Bottlerock Wine Bar and Retail Store to Open in
Downtown Los Angeles on May 15th

(May 15, 2009; Lompoc, CA)-Located at 1050 S. Flower Street, Suite 167 (entrance on 11th between Hope Street and Flower Street) in Los Angeles, BottleRock has opened the doors of its downtown location. With the success of the Culver City flagship wine bar and retail wine store, founders Fred and Isaac Hakim magnified the original concept with a 4,000 square-foot space designed by Ernie Roth of Roth Interiors. The new space is interwoven with organic elements such as green tones, tree trunk tables, and counter tops embedded with recycled wine and beer bottles. Housed inside the gorgeous new Metropolitan Lofts on 11th between Hope and Flower, BottleRock will boast a wine list of close to 1,000 selections, an extensive beer list including a dozen different microbrews on tap, and a full open-air kitchen manned by Executive Chef Jared Levy, formerly of Providence and Blue Velvet. With a prime location just steps away from the Staples Center and the new L.A. Live, "BottleRock will truly be inviting guests to rock out with their cork out, which has always been our mantra," comments General Manager and Wine Director George Skorka.

BottleRock downtown will continue to harbor the original casual atmosphere of the Culver City location, providing thirsty Angelenos with an egalitarian approach to wine and the unique incentive to open almost any bottle in the retail store with the purchase of two glasses. Customers are also encouraged to purchase wine and beer from the BottleRock selection at retail to take home.

Cuisine
BottleRock offers an extensive food menu which will change seasonally, and like the wine list, is structured to encourage exploration. With most dishes priced under $15, guests are able to pick and choose multiple courses to match a wide array of wine. In addition to a large selection of cheese and charcuterie, dishes include Seared Diver Scallop with Crispy Lamb Sweetbreads with Costa Rican hearts of palm, sugar snap peas and coriander glaze; Steak with chili mora sauce, spring corn with epazote, and tortilla crème fraîche; Pork Belly Risotto with sesame, cilantro, jalapeño, ginger and soy; Crispy Arctic Char with asparagus, southern California citrus, béarnaise, and Dijon-pressed pea tendrils; Fresh Fava & Pistachio Falafel with eggplant, mint, cherry tomatoes, watercress, sumac, and black olive oil; and hand-cut Agnolotti with bacon and dates in a white wine lemon verbena sauce. Cheese plates are also available starting with a choice of three cheeses from BottleRock's artisan collection, and can also be made into a personal Grilled Cheese on Brioche. Antipasto plates change daily and may include White Anchovies drizzled in Olive Oil, grilled Marinated Baby Octopus, Gravlax, Pickled Market Vegetables, Marinated Artichokes with Piquillo and assorted nuts. Charcuterie plates include assorted Creminelli Salami, Capicolla Confit Pork, Speck, Foie Gras Torchon, Duck Rillette and Chicken Liver Pâté.

Décor
BottleRock downtown's 124-seat dining room and bar is an urban-organic fusion designed by interior designer Ernie Roth, of Ernie Roth interiors. The colors are earth tones using green, natural browns and metallics. The space features exposed ceilings and a mosaic glass bar made from recycled wine and beer bottles. With the exception of the lounge area, all seating in BottleRock is at bar level so that guests are at eye-level with their servers, further emphasizing the egalitarian atmosphere. The retail area spans the entire perimeter of the restaurant, housing over 1,000 different types of wines in floor-to-ceiling cherry wood shelves. The owners plan to offer outside seating this summer.

The Metropolitan Lofts offers a patio space available for private events through BottleRock featuring a gorgeous waterfall and peaceful, verdant gardens. The indoor lounge area may also be reserved for private events.

BottleRock's downtown location will be open Sunday through Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. and until 1:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Valet parking is $5 and is located on Flower St. The entrance is located on 11th Street between Hope and Flower St.

BottleRock honors all credit cards and will gladly accept reservations for larger parties of eight or more. Private dining is available.
